Sani Lodge, Sucumbíos province, Ecuador.
A bizarre species found widely in the Amazon and Guianan regions. It eats mainly leaves and has a unique digestive system that has evolved to deal with that diet. Nestlings have claws at the bends of their wings, allowing them to climb awkwardy. They have been observed to jump out of their nest into the water when a predator is near, then climb back into the nest when the threat has passed. (S8)
