DIVING-PETRELS   -   PELECANOIDIDAE

Magellanic Diving-Petrel Pelecanoides magellani Chiloe Island Ferry, Region X, Chile. Diving-petrels fly fast and low over the water, making them very hard to photograph. This species is common not far offshore throughout southern Chile. There small size makes them hard to see well from shore, but ferries to offshore islands provide great opportunities to see them.
