BARN OWLS   -   TYTONIDAE

Barn Owl Tyto alba contempta Milpe Bird Sanctuary, Pichincha province, Ecuador. Roosting in a large cavity in a tall, rotten tree stump. At night it used to sit under the covered picnic area at the mirador, regurgitating pellets, but it never slept there. (D3)

Barn Owl Tyto alba tuidara Reserva Ecologica de Guapi Assu, Rio de Janeiro state, Brazil. This ones being true to it's name, sleeping in an abandoned barn next to the Schincariol brewery resevoir at the edge of the reserve. (D2)
